Ghana Military Academy Admission Requirements

The Ghana Military Academy exists to recruit willing citizens to bolter the defense system of the nation and uphold law and order in the citizens. We present to you the basic requirements the Military Academy requires from every Ghanaian who is willing to enroll. 

The provision of false documents and inaccurate information is not tolerated by the academy as they are very strict on the guidelines. 

 

General Eligibility For Infantry /Armour/Artillery

Eligible applicant must satisfy the following requirements:

  1. Be a Ghanaian citizen by birth.
  2. Be of good character.
  3. Be not less than 18 years and not more than 25 years at the time of application 
  4. Be medically fit by Armed Forces standards.
  5. Be not married(for regular officer candidates only).
  6. Be not bonded.
  7. Be of minimum height of 1.68m (5’6”) for males and 1.57m (5’2”)for females. For Military Police only; be of a minimum height of 1.75m (5’9”) for males and 1.70m (5’7”) for females.
  8. Must have six (6) Credits (Not less than grade 6) at BECE including English and Mathematics.
  9. Must have six (6) Credits (Not less than grade 6) at WASSCE including English and Core Mathematics.
  10. Must have six (6) Credits (Not less than D) at SSSCE including English and Core Mathematics.

Artisans are also needed in the army as they make up the handiwork sector of the army providing them with basic needs for their day to day operations.

Electricians

In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must qualify in the following regard.

(I) Ghana Education Service (GES) Intermediate Certificate in Electrical Installation.

(II) Ghana Education Service (GES) or COVET Certificate II in Electrical Works.

(III) City and Guilds Certificate in Electrical Engineering.

Plant Mechanics/Fitters 

In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must qualify in the following regard.

(1) Ghana Education Service (GES) Intermediate Certificate in Plant Mechanic/Fitting.

(11) Ghana Education Service (GES) or COVET Certificate II in Plant Mechanic/Fitting.

(111) City and Guilds Certificate in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.

Survey Assistants

In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must qualify in the following regard.

 (I) Ghana Education Service (GES) or COVET Certificate II in Surveying.

(II) Ghana Education Service (GES) Intermediate Certificate in Surveying.

Painting/Sign writing

In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must qualify in the following regard.

(I) Ghana Education Service (GES) Intermediate Certificate in Painting/Sign Writing.

(II) Ghana Education Service (GES) or COVET Certificate II in Painting/Sign Writing.

(III) City and Guilds Certificate in Painting/Sign Writing.

Plumbers & Masons

In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must qualify in the following regard.

(I) Ghana Education Service (GES) Intermediate Certificate in one of the above.

(II) Ghana Education Service (GES) or COVET Certificate II in in one of the above.

(III) City and Guilds Certificate in one of the above.

Wood Construction Technology:

In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must qualify in the following regard.

(I) Ghana Education Service (GES) Intermediate Certificate in Wood Construction Technology.

(II) Ghana Education Service (GES) or COVET Certificate II in Wood Construction Technology.

(III) City and Guilds Certificate in Carpentry/Joinery.

Welding & Fabrication Technology

In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must qualify in the following regard.

(I) Ghana Education Service (GES) Intermediate Certificate in Welding and Fabrication Technology.

(II) Ghana Education Service (GES) or COVET Certificate II in Welding and Fabrication Technology.
