Georg BarfuB can be described as a Bavarian politician who was born on June 10, 1944. It must be noted that Georg BarfuB is a banker by training and he is known to have worked at the Bavarian Mortgage and Exchange Bank. He went through training between 1967 and 1972 to become a business teacher at the Ludwig-Maximillians University in Munich.
Afterward, Georg BarfuB taught in Augsburg, Ginsburg and Lauingen. He also worked as a management consultant and professor of Economic policy at the University of Applied Sciences until 2004. Interestingly, Georg BarfuB was a member of the Christian Social Union for about 24 years before he became associated with the FDP Bavaria in 2004.
Georg BarfuB served as the full-time first mayor of Lauingen from 1986 to 2004. He was awarded the German-Turkish Freedom Prize in 2003.
He was subsequently removed from his office as Mayor. He was not successful in the 2005 federal election with respect to the Donau-Ries federal constituency. It must be noted that Georg BarfuB has been a member of the Lauingen city council for a long time and he also serves as a member of the Dillingen ad Donau district council.
He was elected to the state parliament via the FDP Swabia district list even though he was not successful in the 2008 state election in the Augsburg-Land Dillingen constituency. Georg BarfuB subsequently resigned from the state parliament in 2013.
