Fabrice Maxime Sylvain Morvan, a.k.a. Fab Morvan, was born on May 14, 1966, in Paris, France. Along with Rob Pilatus, he was a member of the musical group Milli Vanilli. He is a French singer, dancer, and model. He had a successful beginning to his music career, as well as a route full of controversy and tenacity.
Early Years and Career
Morvan moved to Germany to follow his passion for dance and modeling when he was eighteen years old. Having been influenced by many different musical genres, including pop, hip-hop, soul, and funk, he became well-known in the dance scene. The infamous musical duet Milli Vanilli was formed after he met Rob Pilatus in a nightclub in Munich.
Music producer Frank Farian was influential in bringing Morvan and Pilatus to the public’s attention. However, Milli Vanilli’s reputation took a negative turn when rumors circulated that they were lip-syncing live and that their vocal contributions were in doubt. It was later discovered that there were no vocals on any of the recordings that included Morvan and Pilatus. When the Grammy Award was withdrawn, their album “Girl You Know It’s True,” which they had released with Arista Records, became the best-selling record to be taken out of the catalog.
In an effort to rebuild their reputation, Morvan, Pilatus, and Farian collaborated on a comeback, publishing “The Moment of Truth” in 1991. However, the effort was futile, and the pair encountered more challenges.
After the controversy, Morvan and Pilatus ended up lip-syncing comically to an opera recording in a commercial for Carefree sugarless gum. After relocating to Los Angeles, the pair put out an album under the moniker Rob & Fab, but sales of the record were just slightly above 2,000.
Following Milli Vanilli’s passing, Morvan worked as a session musician and radio DJ at KIIS-FM in Los Angeles. He continued to pursue his passion for music by going on tours and making appearances in documentaries.
Morvan’s debut solo album, “Love Revolution,” which he published in 2003, showed his abilities as a vocalist, songwriter, and producer. He continued to make his mark in the music industry by working with producers and DJs over the years. His solo career saw the release of hits with his new band, Fabulous Addiction, including “Anytime” in 2011 and “See the Light” in 2012.
