Erich Borchmeyer was a German athlete . He was born on January 23 , 1905, in Münster but died on August 17, 2000, in Bielefeld. He was 95 years old at the time of his death. He stands at 1.78 m tall and weighs 81 kg.
It needs to be emphasized that Erich Borchmeyer was one of the athletes in Europe in the 1930s. He was able to set the world record of 10.3 seconds three times but it was accepted due to certain technical issues and reasons. He participated in the 1932 Olympics.
Erich Borchmeyer won the silver medal in the 4 × 100 m relay race along with Helmut Körnig, Friedrich Hendrix and Arthur Jonath. Interestingly, the relay team of which Erich Borchmeyer was a member, managed to set a new world record twice in one day.
He however could not go beyond the semi-final stage in the 200-meter race. At the Olympic Games in Berlin, he took part in the 4 × 100 m relay and won the bronze medal. The likes of Wilhelm Leichum, Erwin Gillmeister and Gerd Hornberger were part of the relay team.
Erich Borchmeyer placed fifth in the 100 m competition with a time of 10.7 seconds. He participated in the 1934 European Athletics Championships and placed second in the 4 x 100-meter relay as well as in the 100-meter run.
With respect to the German championships, he has 5 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze medals to his credit.
