Hon. Alhaji Bawa Braimah Mohammed has indicated that the e-levy bill can’t be passed even with the presence of Hon.Adwoa Safo; MP for Dome Kwabenya constituency. According to the MP for Ejura- Sekyedumase, the majority in parliament will still not make the numbers needed to pass the infamous taxation.
He said; “We all know what is going on in Parliament. They [Majority] will still not meet the numbers to pass the E-levy even if Adwoa Safo comes to Parliament”, while speaking on Atinka TV’s morning show.
The lawmaker further requested the special prosecutor to probe certain claims made by some NPP lawmakers.
Amidst the controversy surrounding Hon. Adwoa Safo’s absent from parliament, some key NPP members like Kennedy Agyapong has alleged that Adwoa Safo was given GHS120,000 to persuade her to resume duties.
Hon. Alhaji Bawa is therefore demanding the Office of The Special Prosecutor to investigate these claims.
He also requested the government to find other means of generating revenue for the country as crisis and hardships are escalating. He however still supported the scrapping away of the infamous e-levy bill.
“We will plead with them that they should look at better ways to protect our money,” he added.
