Iris Berben is a German actress, voice actress and activist against anti-Semitism who was born on August 12, 1950. Iris Berben was born in Detmold, North Rhine-Westphalia but grew up in Hamburg. Her parents were then in charge of a restaurant in Hamburg. Iris Berben is known to have made appearances in about 150 film and television productions since 1969.
One of the best roles of Iris Berben is believed to be the role of a no-nonsense police commissioner, in the long-running crime series Rosa Roth between 1994 and 2013. It must be noted that during the Six-Day War in 1967, Iris Berben travelled to Israel.
Subsequently, she became the partner of the Israeli singer Abi Ofarim. Over the years, Iris Berben has been associated with the pro-Israel lobby and has campaigned against antisemitism. Even though she was known to have a son called Oliver, she did not reveal the identity of the father of her son. Together with Bruno Ganz, Iris Berbenin 2010 was elected president of the German Film Academy.
She served as a SPD delegate to the Federal Convention for the purpose of electing the President of Germany in 2017. Iris Berben is not suffering from a stroke in real life. She suffered a stroke in the film titled Triangle of Sadness in which she played the role of Therese.
