Dagmar Manzel is a German actress, singer and radio play announcer. She was born on September 1 , 1958, in East Berlin and her parents are Paul and Annemarie Manzel. Paul and Annemarie Manzel are both teachers.
Dagmar Manzel attended Alexander von Humboldt High School in Köpenick and completed successfully. She furthered her education at the Berlin State Drama School from 1977 to 1980 where she studied acting.
Urfaust was one of the early production she featured in. She worked at the Staatstheater Dresden and at the Deutsches Theater Berlin in 1980 and 1983 respectively. Between 1983 and 2001, Dagmar Manzel was a permanent member of the ensemble and worked with directors such as Thomas Langhoff, Heiner Müller, Thomas Schulte-Michels and Frank Castorf.
Apart from her acting career, Dagmar Manzel makes time as a guest in musical theater productions. She took part in homas Schulte-Michel’s production of Jacques Offenbach’s operetta The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein at the Deutsches Theater Berlin in 2002. Dagmar Manzel was also involved with the 2008 production of Offenbach’s operetta La Périchole at the Berliner Ensemble. S
he played the lead role in Sweeney Todd at the Komische Oper Berlin. Sweeney Todd was directed by Christopher Bond.
Dagmar Manzel jumped onto the stage at the Komische Oper Berlin with Seven Songs / The Seven Deadly Sins in 2012 and she also got involved with Komische Oper Berlin and Ball im Savoy.

Throughout her career, she has won several awards and these are 1980: Actor award for Jutta and the children of Damuz, 1991: Art Prize of the City of Berlin, 1994: German Critics’ Prize, 2000: German television prize in the category Best Actress Series for Klemperer, 2004: Adolf Grimme Prize for Life would be nice, 2004: Bavarian television award for life would be nice, 2006: German TV Award in the category Best Actress TV Film (leading role) for When the Stranger Came and The News and 2009: Berlin Bear (BZ Culture Prize).
