Who Is Chynna Phillips?
Chynna Gilliam Phillips was born on February 12, 1968, in California, USA. She is an American singer and actress, best known as a member of the vocal group Wilson Phillips.
Chynna is the half-sister of Mackenzie and Bijou Phillips and the daughter of John and Michelle Phillips, who were both members of the renowned group The Mamas & the Papas.
Chynna began her acting career and made appearances in a number of films, including Roxanne: The Prize Pulitzer, Some Kind of Wonderful, Caddyshack II, Say Anything, and others in which she portrayed the titular role. She also provided the voice for Kitty in the television series Danny Phantom.
However, Chynna’s main love was music, and with her childhood friends Carnie and Wendy Wilson, she founded the trio Wilson Phillips in the late 1980s.
In 1990, the trio published their self-titled debut album, which went on to sell eight million copies. Their harmonious blend of pop and rock garnered them several hit singles, including “Hold On” and “Release Me.”
Wilson Phillips released their second album, Shadows and Light, in 1992 following the commercial success of their debut. Despite being certified platinum, the album’s commercial success was unfortunately not as strong.
Naked and Sacred, Chynna’s debut solo album, was released in 1995 after she made the decision to pursue a solo career. However, the record did not have the same level of popularity that Wilson Phillips did.
In order to create their third album, California, in 2004, Wilson Phillips got back together. This album included cover songs performed by West Coast performers from the 1960s and 1970s.
The trio continued to put out albums, including Dedicated in 2012 and Christmas In Harmony in 2010. They continue to perform together today.
Chynna has a background in music, although she has also been on reality TV programmes. She competed on Dancing with the Stars’ thirteenth season and was paired with professional dancer Tony Dovolani.
