Christian “Chris” Töpperwien is a versatile individual known for his roles as an entrepreneur, restaurateur, and participant in reality television shows. His life’s journey has been marked by various business ventures, television appearances, and personal relationships.

Chris Töpperwien was born on February 26, 1974, in Neuss, Germany. In 1993, Töpperwien obtained his university entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife). He initially entered his uncle’s fast-food business, where he managed a branch in Cologne’s Kaufhof department store for a year. Following this, he pursued an apprenticeship as an office communication clerk, which he completed in 1996. In 2003, he founded an advertising agency in Cologne.

In 2011, Töpperwien emigrated to the United States. His initial business venture was the silver jewelry label “Silver Angeles.” In February 2012, he launched the first “No.1 Currywurst Truck” in Los Angeles. While Chris Töpperwien expanded his business into a licensing system, none of the trucks operated in the long run. Additionally, his Wurst-City investors ousted him from his Currywurst shop at Venice Beach.

In early 2019, Bild Direkt released a podcast titled “The ‘Currywurst Man’ File,” lasting over 20 minutes. It featured 14-15 different individuals who approached the Bild editorial team with numerous complaints, including an illegal lottery in California.

In 2012, Töpperwien became a part of the documentary series “Goodbye Deutschland! Die Auswanderer” on VOX, where he shared insights into his life and work in Los Angeles.

Aside from “Goodbye Deutschland!,” Töpperwien made appearances on various German television programs, including “taff” (Pro7), “Abenteuer Leben Spezial” (kabel eins), “Frühstücksfernsehen” (Sat.1), “Brisant” (ARD), “Drehscheibe Deutschland” (ZDF), “Punkt 12” (RTL), and “Stadtgespräch” (Center. However, due to low viewership, the show was initially rescheduled to a later time slot and later canceled altogether.

In September 2020, Töpperwien won the first season of the Sat.1 show “Die Festspiele der Reality Stars – Wer ist die hellste Kerze?” (The Festival of Reality Stars – Who Is the Brightest Candle?).
