Charlotte Marie Pomeline Casiraghi was born on August 3, 1986, in the Princess Grace Hospital Centre in La Colle, Monaco.
Despite her royal heritage, she is far more accomplished than that. Charlotte, the second child of Italian billionaire Stefano Casiraghi and Princess Caroline of Monaco, has forged a unique career for herself as a model, socialite, writer, editor, equestrian, journalist, film producer, and humanitarian.
Early Life
She was born into the royal family of Monaco and the sudden loss of her father in a boating accident when she was just four years old caused a dramatic change in the family’s way of life. Princess Caroline relocated the family to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in France to provide them with more privacy and protection from the press.
Notwithstanding the difficulties, Charlotte Casiraghi, her two brothers Andrea and Pierre, and their upbringing combined regal customs with the longing for some sort of normalcy. Two stepbrothers and Princess Alexandra of Hanover, her mother’s half-sister, were added to the family in 1999 following her mother’s marriage to Prince Ernst of Hanover.
Education
She showed academic distinction while attending Les Dames de Saint Maur in Monaco and the Lycée François-Couperin in Fontainebleau. She received an “excellent” grade on her 2004 baccalaureate test.
Casiraghi persisted in her scholastic endeavors despite a setback in her application to the École normale supérieure (Paris). In 2007, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Philosophy from the University of Paris IV: Paris-Sorbonne. Her scholarly endeavors included internships with the London newspaper The Independent and Parisian artist Robert Laffont.
Career
Casiraghi has always had a strong bond with horses and equestrian activities. She showed both talent and love for the sport by competing in Junior and Amateur class show jumping events while competing for Marcel Rozier’s Team Marionnaud and by signing up for the Global Champions Tour.
Casiraghi’s services to the equestrian community go beyond the arena; in 2010, he was named honorary president of the Global Champions Tour in Monaco.
In 2010, Chiaraghi made her fashion debut as the official spokesperson for Gucci’s horse-themed designs. As her relationship with Gucci grew, in 2014 she was named the brand’s spokesperson for cosmetics.
Throughout her modeling career, she has worked with Yves Saint Laurent and been included in David Sims’s photos for many campaigns. She joined Chanel as a brand ambassador in 2020, and she will represent the clothing line internationally in the Spring/Summer 2021 campaign.
Casiraghi and Montblanc worked together in 2018 to create the Nancy Cunard-inspired Les Aimants jewelry line.
Casiraghi established “Les Rencontres Philosophiques de Monaco” in 2015 as a committed supporter of philosophical dialogues. This platform functions as a philosophy think tank, bringing scholars together to debate current topics and recently released works in the discipline.
In 2009, she was editor-at-large for Above magazine, and she helped Women’s Wear Daily get an interview with novelist Roberto Saviano.
She said in 2009 that she would release “Ever Manifesto,” a free booklet that addressed the environmental effects of the fashion industry and promoted sustainability.
