For this reason, we took our time to give you the details you need to know about how a physician assistant (PA) can become a medical doctor in Ghana.

Before we dive into the details, know that it is possible for a physician assistant to become a doctor in Ghana.

How can that be done? Read on.

If you want to offer medicine as a Physcian Assistant, you will have to apply to either University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), University for Development Studies (UDS), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and other medical schools in Ghana to do additional 6 years.

If you want to do only four years you have to apply for the UG Graduate Entry Medical Program.

Apply for the University of Ghana Graduate Entry Medicine Program.

The University of Ghana Post Graduate Medicine Program is a quick way for a Physician assistant and other allied health professionals to enter medical school for only a period of four years and graduate as fully fledged medical doctors.

UG Post Graduate Medicine Admission Requirements.

The University of Ghana Medical School (UGMS) is inviting applications from qualified applicants for admission into the Graduate Entry Medical Programme for the 2020/2021 Academic Year.

 

Entry Requirements

Duration of programme: 4 years

Award given: MB ChB Degree

 

Cost of Application Form

GHC 200. US$ 110.00 for foreign students.

 

How to apply

To become a medical doctor as a Physician assistant, apply for this program by following the steps below.

Required documents

  • Two most recent endorsed passport-size photograph
  • Two recommendation letters
  • Copy of Degree and SHS Certificates
  • Original transcript
  • 6 months bank statement
  • NSS Certificate
  • Proof of online registration.

 

Note that there will be an access course which will lead to an entrance examination. Cost for this is GHC 1,250.00

Access Course is for a duration of two weeks.

The Access Course covers English Language, Quantitative Methods, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Anatomy and Physiology.

Participation in the Access Course is NOT compulsory but it is highly recommended.
