Burt Lancaster was born on November 2, 1913, and his parents were James and Elizabeth Lancaster. He was born in New York and his parents were Protestants of working-class origin.
Burt Lancaster grew up in East Harlem, New York City and while growing up, he had an interest in gymnastics. He was then a student at DeWitt Clinton High School and he also took to the playing of basketball.
The mother of Burt Lancaster died before he graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School. She died of a cerebral hemorrhage. Later on, Burt Lancaster attended New York University but dropped out.
Burt Lancaster could be described as an American producer and actor and he had a 45-year career so far as films and television series are concerned. He was a four-time Academy Award for Best Actor nominee and he was able to win one.
He has two BAFTA Awards and one Golden Globe Award for Best Lead Actor to his credit.
He performed as a circus acrobat in the 1930s but after World War II, he landed a role in Broadway and got the attention of a Hollywood Agent. His role in The Killers(1946) served as his breakthrough and through that, in 1948, he was featured in Sorry, Wrong Number.
Burt Lancaster also played the role of the illicit lover of Deborah Kerr in From Here To Eternity. This movie was able to win 8 Academy Awards.
Burt Lancaster Cause of Death
Burt Lancaster died of a heart attack in his apartment in Los Angeles. He suffered three heart attacks and eventually died on October 20, 1994.
He was cremated and had his ashes scattered under a large oak tree in Westwood Memorial Park, located in California.

Some of the films to the credit of Burt Lancaster include The Rainmaker(1956), Gunfight at the OK Corral (1957), Trapeze(1956), Sweet Smell of Success(1957) as well as Run Silent, Rin Deep(1958).
Others are Separate Tables(1958), Elman Gantry(1960), Judgement at Nuremberg Birdman of Alcatraz(1962), The Leopard, Seven Days In May, The Professionals, The Swimmer(1968).
He also played roles in Airport(1970), Conversation Piece(1974), Atlantic City(1980) as well as Separate But Equal.
Marriage and Relationships
Burt Lancaster first married June Ernst but they later divorced. He then married Norma Anderson in 1946. But in 1966, Burt Lancaster and Norma Anderson separated and finally divorced in 1969.
After divorcing his first and second wives, Burt Lancaster got married to his third wife; Susan Martin and they stayed married from September 1990 until he eventually died.
Burt Lancaster had five children from his marriages. He is also said to have had affairs with Jackie Bone, Deborah Kerr, Joan Blondell and Shelley Winters.
