German comedian Bülent Ceylan was born in Mannheim, Germany, on January 4, 1976, and is of Turkish heritage. Ceylan was raised in a household of three older siblings by her Turkish father Ahmet and German mother Hilde, who immigrated to Germany in 1958.
He first attended Ludwig-Frank High School after Friedrich-Ebert Primary School in Waldhof. He completed an internship at VIVA in 1995 following his high school graduation, and in 1998 he began his studies in politics and philosophy.
Ceylan, however, decided to pursue a comedy career and dropped out of school to concentrate on his theatre career.
Through his appearances on the television show Quatsch Comedy Club, Ceylan became well-known. In 2001, he received the Bielefeld Cabaret Award, and in 2002, the State of Baden-Württemberg awarded him the Small-Scale Performing Arts Award. A common theme in Ceylan’s comedic works is the mockery of Germans and Mannheim residents.
Ceylan has made appearances in a number of stage productions and television series over his career, such as “Halb getürkt” and “Bülent Ceylan – Ganz schön turbülent!” In addition, he has appeared in TV shows including “Hademe Krause” and “Bewegte Männer.”
