Murray has a close-knit family outside of his great job in the entertainment world. He is one of nine children born to Lucille and Edward Joseph Murray II, both Irish Catholics.

Joel and Bill, two of his younger siblings, are also actors. Ed, his older brother, was a businessman, and Andy, his younger brother, is a chef who owns the Murray Brothers “Caddyshack” restaurant.
