Rebecca Acheampong, also known as Becca was born on 15th August,1984 in Kumasi, the capital town of the Ashanti Region, Ghana. She is the fifth born out of nine children. The popular musician and songwriter attended Morning Star and Wesley Girls’ Senior High School at Cape Coast.
Her gift of singing was evident while she was in Senior High School. She went on to Croydon College and became a child care and education worker. Becca also attended the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. She came into the limelight when she joined ‘Mentor”, TV3’s musical competition which goes on every year.
Her Career And Awards
Becca began to work on her first studio album known as “Sugar” and made it public in 2007. With this album, she won five nominations at the Ghana Music Awards held in 2008. She also went home with the Record of the Year Award, and her song, “You Lied to Me” won it.
Later in 2013, precisely on 16th May, she made her second album, “Time for Me” public. 2Face Idibia, MI, King Ayisoba, Trigmatic, Jay Storm and Akwaboah were featured in it. The video for this song was released on 25th June,2013 by EKB Records and this video was made in Tokyo and Yokohama. Becca released her fifth single titled : “Follow the Leader” on 17th June,2013.
