Who Is Andrea Berg?
Andrea Berg, a woman whose life was tragically cut short, met a horrific death on June 15, 2015. The details of her demise are disturbing and showcase the darkest side of humanity.
For her part in the murder, Lana Pelletier, who has previously received a conviction for second-degree murder, filed a guilty plea.
Pelletier, who is currently incarcerated for life without the possibility of release for 10 years, was the key witness against Sophie Frenchman and Carrie Jones, two other women who are also accused of being involved in the death of Berg.
Frenchman and Jones entered a not-guilty plea to second-degree murder at the start of the trial. The goal of the prosecution, headed by Kevin Mark, is to show that Jones supported and assisted the murder while the Frenchman participated actively and physically.
The circumstances surrounding Berg’s death were made known by Pelletier during her testimony. She acknowledged that she had been up all night, drinking too much vodka and injecting crystal meth.
Berg’s normal drug dealer, Pelletier, became furious when she learned that Berg had bought drugs elsewhere.
When she learned that Berg had sex with a customer even though she was HIV positive, her rage increased. Pelletier, who shared a building with Berg, made her way to her flat with a determination to confront him.
When Pelletier got to Berg’s flat, her rage turned aggressive, and she started hitting Berg. She then gave the Frenchman the order to return the victim to her flat.
Pelletier’s kitchen was where the beatings went on until she stopped to make lunch for everyone but Berg. After that, Berg was taken into the bedroom by Pelletier and Frenchman where the vicious attack continued.
Pelletier made a shot of crystal meth and bleach to try and control Berg. Despite being aware of the fatal risks, she made Berg drink the combination. The scene became out of control as Berg protested, and she started to defend herself.
Then, Pelletier and Frenchman held a bleach-soaked towel over her mouth to suffocate her. Pelletier took a quick break to get a knife and returned with the intention of strangling Berg with a speaker cord.
Carrie Jones, Pelletier’s lover, was in the room at this time. Before leaving the scene, Jones instructed Berg on how to use the cord to strangle him. Pelletier and Frenchman then wrapped the cord around Berg’s neck and began to tug for a while.
It was clear that Berg was dead when they eventually cut the wire and turned her onto her back. Nevertheless, no one felt for her pulse, and an autopsy later proved that she was still alive.
Pelletier made the decision to remove Berg’s body from her flat after becoming gripped with fear and shame. The body was wrapped in duct tape, put in a hockey bag, and dropped out of a third-floor window with the assistance of fellow drug user John Kisil.
After that, the bag was left in a shopping cart in a nearby driveway. Kisil is presently doing a five-year term after being prosecuted as an accessory after the fact to murder.
Pelletier expressed regret for her actions and recognised that she felt driven by her conscience to confess to being involved in Berg’s death.
