Who Is Alexandra R?

Alexander R., a 39-year-old woman from Nuremberg, found herself at the centre of a mysterious disappearance case in December 2022.

Her voluntary disappearance is thought to have been facilitated via SMS and WhatsApp communications sent from her phone.

Distressing expressions like “I can’t take it anymore” and “I’ve done so much shit” were purportedly used in the messages, which were allegedly written on December 9, the day she vanished. These communications are strange since they were sent at specific times, such as 3:30 p.m.

When Alexandra’s cellphone was located 700 kilometres distant, near a rest area close to Bologna in Italy, it marked a critical turning point in the investigation.

Given that some of the communications might have been sent from Italy, it was possible that she had travelled there before going missing.

The circumstances surrounding the phone’s discovery, though, added still another element of intrigue. A truck driver unexpectedly answered the phone when a buddy tried to reach Alexandra.

The phone had been taped to the truck, a further examination found. Authorities and friends of the missing woman were left perplexed in the wake of this puzzling discovery.

These events were reported by the Nürnberger Nachrichten (NN), but the police have not confirmed the accuracy of these accusations.

Michael Konrad, a spokesman for the police, emphasised that detectives have taken possession of numerous data carriers, including mobile phones, and are still analysing the data.

The investigation has moved its attention to two people in Alexandra’s social circle who could be suspects: her ex-boyfriend and a temporary business partner connected to him. Given the circumstances of her disappearance, authorities suspect that she might have been a victim of a violent crime.

Alexandra was eight months pregnant when she vanished from her Katzwang neighbourhood in southern Nuremberg. Investigators were concerned since she abandoned her money, identity cards, and even her pregnancy card.

Alexandra, who is originally from Romania, moved to Nuremberg as a young child. She and her ex-husband had already adopted a daughter.

For the purpose of conducting inquiries and gathering information in her place of origin, the police have requested administrative support from Romanian authorities. Sadly, no response has been given thus far, further complicating the probe.
