The excellent German professional football player Agyemang Diawusie, who had a limited but significant career, passed away on November 28, 2023, leaving a lasting legacy. Diawusie was born on February 12, 1998, and his rise from the youth divisions to the professional leagues is evidence of his commitment to and love for football.
Early Years
Diawusie’s football journey started at the SV Fortuna Regensburg youth division. His skill on the field soon brought him recognition, which prompted a transfer to the Jahn Regensburg academy. He joined 1. FC Nürnberg’s under-17 squad in 2014, and during the course of the following 18 months, he scored nine goals in 22 league games thanks to his extraordinary abilities. RB Leipzig was drawn to this and signed him in the summer of 2015.
Career Breakthrough
Diawusie excelled at RB Leipzig while still in the underage categories, appearing in 48 Under-19 Bundesliga games and tallying 19 goals. He shown his early talent in 2016 by winning the Saxon Under-19 Cup with his squad. After receiving a professional contract in 2017 as a result of his achievements, he spent the 2017–18 season on loan at 3. Liga team SV Wehen Wiesbaden. Diawusie made 35 games in his rookie season, tallying four goals and eleven assists.
For the 2018–19 season, Diawusie moved to 2. Bundesliga club FC Ingolstadt 04. Although his time on the pitch was limited, he made a significant impact upon returning to SV Wehen Wiesbaden on loan, helping them secure promotion to the 2. Bundesliga. His journey continued with FC Ingolstadt 04’s relegation to the 3. Liga in the 2019–20 season.
In July 2020, Diawusie , sign a two-year contract with Dynamo Dresden. His efforts played a crucial role in the team’s promotion to the 2. Bundesliga during the 2020–21 season. However, after Dynamo Dresden’s relegation back to the 3. Liga, Diawusie moved to Austrian Bundesliga club SV Ried in 2021.
Diawusie’s career saw him briefly join SpVgg Bayreuth in January 2023, where he made 17 appearances and scored his first and only goal for the club. Despite Bayreuth’s relegation, Diawusie returned to his roots, rejoining Jahn Regensburg in July 2023. His signing was a homecoming, reuniting him with his youth club in the 3. Liga.
In 2016, he was called up for a training camp with the Germany U19 team, showcasing his abilities in a friendly against the Czech Republic.

Agyemang Diawusie passed away on November 28, 2023. He died at the age of 25 from a sudden cardiac arrest by a viral infection, suspected to be myocarditis.
