Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko; the founder of The Danquah Institute and a leading member of The New Patriotic Party has questioned the legislature over recent devotion of the executive to cut down pay of government appointees by 30%.
According to Gabby, the measure taken by the executive is very significant in the government’s quest of salvaging Ghana’s wrecking economy. He has however during his commendation of the executive quizzed whether the legislature will be willing to do same.
“Age of sacrifices. 30% pay cut for all ministers, DCEs, CEOs, & other appointees is significant sacrifice by members of the Executive. Will Parliament, which is responsible for passing or not passing the e-levy, respond with its own self-imposed pay cuts? A nation awaits!,” Gabby Otchere-Darko tweeted.
After the economic retreat held by the government and members of the finance committee at the Peduase Lodge, Ken Ofori-Atta has come out saying salaries of government appointees shall be cut by 30% and several other privileges like importing V8 cars have been frozen until further notice.
