All That You Need To Know of Tika Sumpter Siblings

Tika Sumpter is an American actress and she was born on June 20, 1980. She was born in Queens, New York City and while in school, she was a cheerleader. Her parents are Arthur Curtis Sumpter and Janice Acquista.

She attended Longwood Senior High School in Middle Island, New York and successfully graduated. Tika Sumpter also majored in Communications at Marymount Manhattan College.

She made some appearances in some commercials for Hewlett-Packard and Liz Claiborne’s Curve fragrances. Even before she went into mainstream acting, she worked as an actress.

It must be noted that in 2004, she was the co-host for Best Friend’s Date. Best Friend’s Date was a reality series that was aired on Nickelodeon’s defunct cable channel The N, now titled TeenNick.

In 2005, Tika Sumpter played the role of Layla Williamson in the ABC daytime soap opera, One Life to Live and her performance shot her into fame. She got nominated for NAACP Image Award for Best Actress in a Daytime Drama Series in 2008.

She played a role in Stomp the Yard: Homecoming and also made an appearance in  Salt. Within the first five months of 2011, Tika Sumpter played the role of Raina Thorpe in The CW teen drama series, Gossip Girl.

In the same 2011, she also featured in the romantic comedy film titled What’s Your Number? and between 2011 and 2012, she played a role in The Game, a BET comedy series.

She was a member of the cast for Sparkle (2012), a musical-drama that was inspired by the story of The Supremes. Other films she featured in include  My Man Is a Loser, The Haves and the Have Nots and A Madea Christmas.

Tika Sumpter starred alongside Kevin Hart and Ice Cube in  Ride Along in 2014 and she played the role of Yvonne Fair in Get On Up. Get On Up was a biographical drama film about James Brown.

She also teamed up with the likes of Queen Latifah, Mo’Nique, and Khandi Alexander in the HBO biographical film titled Bessie. Tika Sumpter gave birth to her daughter, Ella-Loren on October 8, 2016, and got married to Nicholas James in 2022.

She was initially married to actor Hosea Chanchez in 2009 but they divorced.
